Moscow calls US appeals to free Sentsov, Savchenko sentenced in Russia inappropriate
"Moreover, it is an attempt to whitewash terrorism and murders of journalists," Russian Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov says
MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Appeals of the US Department of State to release Oleg Sentsov and Nadezhda Savchenko sentenced to prison terms in Russia are inappropriate, Russian Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov said on Thursday in the wake of the release by the State Department of the 2015 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices.
"The calls of the US Department of State to free Oleg Sentsov sentenced for organisation of explosions in Crimea and Ukrainian gunner Nadezhda Savchenko, who the Russian court found guilty in grave crimes, are absolutely inappropriate and sound on the verge of interference into our internal affairs," Dolgov said in a commentary posted on the foreign ministry's website. "Moreover, it is an attempt to whitewash terrorism and murders of journalists."
A yet another annual report by the US Department of State on human rights across the world is hinged on ideological cliches and biased assessments, Dolgov went on to say.
"In the wake of publication of an annual report on the observance of human rights around the globe, we’re compelled to state the document seethes with an unacceptable bossy intonation, trite clich·s and politicized assessments," he said in a statement the Foreign Ministry uploaded at its official website.
