OSCE envoy: Russia will not put up with restrictions against Russian media
On April 7 Latvian National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) banned the RTR Rossiya TV channel from broadcasting on the territory of the republic
MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Moscow will not put up with restrictions against Russian media and will use all instruments of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to ensure freedom of speech, Russia’s envoy to OSCE Alexander Lukashevich said on Friday.
Commenting on Latvia’s ban on broadcasting Russia’s RTR Rossiya TV channel, Lukashevch said: "[This happens] not only in Latvia, but also in Lithuania, in Moldova, in US, EU… I think that this is a deliberate policy of informational containment of our country in connection with events in Ukraine and around Crimea."
He added that he does not rule out similar incidents with representatives of Russian media in other countries.
On April 7 Latvian National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) banned the RTR Rossiya TV channel from broadcasting on the territory of the republic. The NEPLP press service said that after analyzing shows from January 18 and 19, as well as shows from 6 July 2015, the council came to a conclusion that they contain features of violating several laws on electronic media and inciting hatred.
