GROZNY, March 25 /TASS/. Chechnya’s Head Ramzan Kadyrov has described his appointment as the acting head of the Chechen Republic as unlimited responsibility and a heavy burden.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday signed a decree appointing Ramzan Kadyrov the acting head of Chechnya before the republic elects a new leader. Putin also expressed the hope that Kadyrov would run in elections for the region’s top post in September.
"I regard [my appointment - TASS] to be unlimited responsibility and a heavy burden. I clearly realize that I cannot live on name or reputation. It is important to give a start to new work and set new and more complicated tasks," Kadyrov wrote on his page in Instagram.
"It’s a great pleasure and enormous responsibility for me to receive any instruction from Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin]. The more so, if it’s so important," he said.
Kadyrov added that the people of Chechnya had earlier asked him to remain the republic’s head.
