Kremlin negative about use of Putin's image in US election campaign
Moscow urges an end to the tactic of demonizing Russia, traditional for US election campaigns
MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. The Kremlin does not like the use of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s image in an election ad issued by US presidential nominee Donald Trump’s team, and urges an end to the tactic of demonizing Russia, traditional for US election campaigns.
"We are very negative [about such use of the Russian president’s image]," presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in reply to a question from TASS. Peskov said he had seen the video clip himself, but remarked that he was ignorant whether Putin had seen it, too.
"It is common knowledge that demonization of Russia - let me put it this way - and everything related with it is regrettably a mandatory attribute of the US election campaign," Peskov said. "We always regret this. We would like election processes to proceed without such allusions to our country," Peskov said.
