Putin orders to check whether explosion at mine was caused by coal production technology
The Russian president also urged finding the ways to timely warn miners about danger in case of emergency situations in future
MOSCOW, March 2. / TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered experts to study whether the coal mining technology used at the Severanaya mine in Vorkuta could cause the recent accident there.
Speaking at a meeting with the cabinet members Putin also urged finding the ways to timely warn miners about danger in case of emergency situations in future.
The head of state stressed that, according to Russian industrial safety watchdog Rostekhnadzor, no violations that could cause a state of emergency had been found on the site of the accident, and the method of extraction of resources at the mine was still considered safe.
"But we need to look very carefully whether it caused a shift of these formations, which, ultimately, led to such a tragedy I am asking you to re-examine all the possibilities related to the security itself and warning of miners when the situation becomes risky," said Putin.
