Moscow ready to provide necessary assistance to Lebanon — FM
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is meeting Lebanon’s Prime Minister Tammam Salam on the sidelines of the Munich security conference
MUNICH, February 12. /TASS/. Russia is prepared to provide assistance to Lebanon in the spheres where it is needed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said ahead of a meeting with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Tammam Salam on the sidelines of the Munich security conference on Friday.
"We appreciate the possibility to continue the constant political dialogue between our countries in major issues of international politics, the situation in the region and also to discuss the state of affairs in Lebanon," Lavrov said.
"I would like to hear your assessments on what should be done and needs to be done by the Russian side. We will be ready to provide assistance to you where this is possible," Russia’s top diplomat said.
He also stressed the need to exchange assessments on the situation in the Middle East region.
The Munich security conference opens on Friday in Bavaria’s administrative center. Participants in the 52nd meeting will discuss the Syrian crisis, the situation in Ukraine as well as the migration crisis in Europe.
Russia is represented by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
