Deputy FM: US, EU should ask Kiev about Minsk-2 deal implementation, not Moscow
The diplomat said there has been a proposal for Russia to make some political changes in exchange for easing or lifting sanctions
MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. The demands to implement the Minsk 2 peace deal need to be directed to the Ukrainian side, not Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said in an interview with TASS.
"The demands to implement Minsk 2 in full for settlement in Ukraine’s southeast need to be directed to Kiev, not Moscow," Ryabkov stressed. "These people in the United States and the European Union ‘talk to the wrong man,’" Ryabkov said.
The diplomat said there has been a proposal for Russia to make some political changes in exchange for easing or lifting sanctions. "But the demands they ask us to meet have nothing in common with the reality," he stressed.
"They knock on the wrong door, dial the wrong telephone numbers and write the wrong addresses in their emails," he said, adding that: "When they get all this back from us finally and understand where this question needs to be directed then possibly the Minsk 2 implementation will be easier."
The diplomat also said "wise men" in Washington will then find thousands of pretexts not to abolish the sanctions against Moscow that were introduced in March 2014 amid the Ukrainian crisis.
