Senior Russian legislator: US uses UN, Security Council for propaganda
The UN and the UN Security Council still remain optional agencies in the US scheme of things, Washington turns to them exclusively when they can be used for propaganda purposes, Andrey Klishas says
MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. The chairman of the Federation Council’s constitutional legislation and statehood committee, Andrey Klishas, believes that the United States uses the United Nations and the UN Security Council exclusively for propaganda, treating them as "optional agencies."
"The United Nations and the UN Security Council still remain optional agencies in the US scheme of things. The US turns to them exclusively in cases when they can be used for propaganda purposes," Klishas wrote in his blog on the official website of the upper house of parliament.
"Possibly, the United States may soon start bombing other counties and will not even bother to explain the reasons behind its actions or provide some grounds for its own policies," Klishas said.
He also pointed to the Western countries’ refusal to provide any proof of their speculations as a new trend in public behavior.
"Denying for no apparent reason the hard facts, such as oil caravans towards Turkey from Syria or refusing to provide any proof to back up their speculations is a new style of civilized Western countries’ policies in communicating with the mass media, the public in their countries and the whole world," he said. "All this is gross violation of international law and at the same time abuse of the universally accepted standards of the freedom of speech."
