MOSCOW, January 22./TASS/. Unfriendly rhetoric must be rejected to see Russian-Polish relations normalized, a report of the Russian Foreign Ministry said after bilateral consultations at the level of deputies to the foreign ministers.

Russia is ready to pragmatically build contacts with the new Polish government, advancing on those directions where it is possible, the report said after consultations of Russia’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marek Ziolkowski.

"It was not at Russia’s initiative that channels of a dialogue were blocked," the ministry said.

"It was stressed that if there is a bid to normalize relations, adequate atmosphere must be created for that, while unfriendly rhetoric and action must be avoided," the report said.

"An accent was put on a need to take measures towards due protection of Russian monuments and military burial sites in Poland given vandalism incidents that are getting increasingly frequent," the ministry said.

The sides agreed to organize shortly a meeting of a joint working group for the implementation of the February 22, 1994 intergovernmental agreement on memorial sites for victims of wars and repressions.

The report also said the sides had agreed at consultations to pragmatically settle disputes concerning diplomatic property in both countries. It said "the sides agreed to pave the way for negotiations with the prospect to arrive at an intergovernmental agreement".

Moscow reiterated its stance in connection with an appeal of the Polish side to hand over debris of the Tu-154M plane that crashed outside the Russian city of Smolensk on April 10, 2010, killing Polish president Lech Kaczynski, his wife and 94 other passengers.

It said Russia’s investigative agencies continued the probe opened after the crash, in which fragments of the airliner were material evidence. "The issue of their return can be settled after all necessary investigative and procedural activity is completed, including forensic investigation and execution of Polish queries for legal assistance," the ministry said.

The sides also stated their readiness to use mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, involving the intergovernmental commission, the formats of practical contacts between public quarters and government ministries and agencies for the settlement of topical issues of cooperation.
