Russia’s authorities "are monitoring all the events in Moldova very carefully"

MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. The Kremlin is carefully monitoring the events in Moldova and calls on all the sides to observe the law and refrain from violence, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday commenting on the protests in Chisinau.

"The Kremlin calls on all the sides to abide by the law and calm, of course, and hopes that all the forces that support these or those opponents, will refrain from any violent actions," Peskov told reporters.

Russia’s authorities "are monitoring all the events in Moldova very carefully," he added.

On Wednesday, riots occurred outside the parliament in Moldova after the new government was approved. Thousands of opposition supporters stormed the building saying the cabinet was illegal.

Later, thousands of supporters of the opposition Party of Socialists, the Our Party and the Civil Platform DA (Dignity and Justice) staged a picket at the building.

The opposition plans to resume protests on Thursday demanding the resignation of the authorities and early elections.
