Russia Foreign Ministry against attempts to aggravate social tensions in Venezuela
According to preliminary results, the opposition bloc will get the majority of seats in Venezuela’s national parliament
MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. Russia is against any attempts to artificially aggravate social tensions in Venezuela, including from the outside, in connection with the results of parliamentary election held on December 6, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The results of will expression of the Venezuelan people confirm the importance that citizens place on the necessity to solve acute challenges the country is facing in the social and economic sphere. Improving the situation is impossible without effective internal political dialogue, constructive and coordinated cooperation of all branches of government," the ministry said.
"We express hope that the government and parliament will find constitutional forms of productive joint work for the sake of the country and its people," the foreign ministry stressed. "Any attempts to artificially aggravate social tensions, including inciting them from outside, are impermissible," the ministry added.
"Will expression took place in peaceful, calm conditions and in strict compliance with the Constitution," the foreign ministry said. "The reliability of the electoral system and the democratic character of the state system of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were once again confirmed," the ministry added.
"We express hope that the government and parliament will find constitutional forms of productive joint work for the sake of the country and its people," the foreign ministry stressed.
According to preliminary results, the opposition bloc will get the majority of seats in Venezuela’s national parliament. The results of the election were recognized by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
The ministry also said Russia plans to continue broadening multifaceted cooperation and developing strategic partnership with Venezuela.
"Russia firmly plans to deepen multifaceted cooperation and further develop strategic partnership with friendly Venezuela," the ministry concluded.
