TASS condemns attack on journalists in Syria
On Monday, TASS correspondent Alexander Yelistratov, as well as RT correspondents Sargon Khadaya and Roman Kosarev came under fire in Syria and suffered minor injuries
MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. The TASS news agency condemns the attack on journalists that occurred on Monday in Syria and says the incident once again shows that security of media employees working in hot spots should be enhanced, says the agency’s statement.
On Monday, TASS correspondent Alexander Yelistratov, as well as RT correspondents Sargon Khadaya and Roman Kosarev came under fire in Syria and suffered minor injuries.
Kosarev suffered a concussion, Khadaya and Yelistratov — fragmentation wounds. The journalists are currently in a hospital, their lives are out of danger.
"TASS flatly condemns what happened and believes attacks on correspondents performing their professional duty are inadmissible. The attack on RT and TASS correspondents once again shows that it is necessary to ensure security of journalists working in hot spots, regardless of the place and country the media belong to," TASS Director General Sergey Mikhailov said.
According to Syrian military, the missile attack was conducted by militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group, banned in Russia.
