Lavrov: Terror attacks in Paris require united anti-terror front
According to Lavrov, leaders of BRICS discussed the situation in Syria and fighting terrorism, as "IS, al-Nusra Front and the like terrorist organisations are the common enemy"
ANTALYA, November 15. /TASS/. The terror attacks in Paris require leaving along any reasons and beginning to organise a united anti-terror front, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Sunday.
"The statement does not contain a part devoted to the international polices, but during discussions all the countries agreed the recent events, including the terror attacks in Paris, make absolutely imperative for all to drop any good reasons, any pre-conditions and to focus on organisation of a truly universal anti-terror front," the minister said, adding President Vladimir Putin had said about it many times.
During the talks, Lavrov continued, leaders of BRICS nations also discussed the situation in Syria, where they gave positive comments on the ministerial meeting of the Syrian Support Group in Vienna on Saturday.
The countries’ leaders expressed hope the agreements on beginning of a political process will be observed, for which it would be necessary to form a delegation from the opposition and to begin a dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition early next year. He said the time frame mentioned was also 18 months, within which constitutional reform and elections should be completed.
"Speaking about Syria, the leaders discussed fighting terrorism, as IS, al-Nusra Front and the like terrorist organisations are the common enemy," he said.
Lavrov said the political views in the final statement of the BRICS informal meeting are related to negative phenomena like politicisation of economic relations, adoption of unilateral economic ties contradicting the international law.
The parties to the informal meeting, he said, confirmed the actions of the kind affect the international economic financial system and should be stopped. BRICS countries welcomed the first meeting of the organisation’s working group on fighting the corruption, which is due in early November.
