Russian lawmakers slam Charlie Hebdo, call it "accomplice of ISIL"
On Thursday, the satirical magazine again published a cartoon devoted to the crash of the Russian jet A321 in the Sinai Peninsula that took away the lives of 224 people
MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Cartoonists working for the French magazine Charlie Hebdo have nothing in common with human morals, Russia’s special envoy for human rights Konstantin Dolgov tweeted on Thursday.
"The shallow souls from Charlie Hebdo persist in showing they have nothing in common either with journalism or with the freedom of speech or with human morality," Dolgov wrote.
Irina Yarovaya, the chairperson of the State Duma anti-corruption committee believes the activity of the satirical magazine makes manifest a new strain of terrorism.
"This new form of aggression shown by Charlie Hebdo is informational terrorism that has the same elements of sadism and aims at destroying social well-being and stability, thus pursuing political goals," she told reporters on Thursday.
"Technologies of destruction through information are used on a systemic basis in today's world," Yarovaya went on. "The problem has long lost any links to the freedom of information. It embodies the freedom of moving certain crimes, which the classical legislation qualifies as offenses, to the sphere of information technologies."
The word of information has long turned from a virtual sphere into a material one "through the objectives, objects of attacks and the aftermaths and Charlie Hebdo's line of conduct exposes something bigger than perverted morality or lust for profits at any price," she said. "It's informational terrorism in disguise."
While most terrorist organizations are banned, informational terrorists act as their accomplices. "Charlie is an accomplice of ISIL [the former name of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia]," Yarovaya claimed.
