Egyptian vacation: cancelled flights, evacuation and stranded holidaymakers
As the evacuation of Russian tourists from Egypt started, Egyptian beaches gradually become empty, but some tourists do not want to interrupt their vacation
On November 6 Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed with the recommendations of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee and ordered to suspend Egypt flights. From 10p.m. Moscow time on November 6, all regular, transit and chartered flights from Russia to Egypt, carrying passengers, were suspended. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that the measure will be in force not until the end of the investigation of Kogalymavia Flight 9268 crash over Sinai on October 31 but rather until appropriate security measures are ensured. Putin also ordered to assist Russian citizens in returning from Egypt. According to the Association of Russian Tour Operators, around 15,000 Russian tourists were evacuated from Egypt over the last weekend of November 7-8.
