Moscow: Ukraine elections do not contribute to overcoming split in society
Contrary to statements by the authorities in Kiev, the trend continues to intensify, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson says
MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The local elections in Ukraine did not help overcome the split in society, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"The current campaign did not contribute to overcoming the split in society and the country’s division," the diplomat noted. "Contrary to statements by the authorities in Kiev, the trend continues to intensify."
According to Zakharova, the Ukrainian law on local election does not comply with several demands of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
"Adopting a very fragmented law on local election that is difficult to understand has negatively impacted the process of election procedures in Ukraine," the diplomat said. "Apart from that, the law does not comply with several Kiev’s obligations in the framework of OSCE which was noted by representatives of the organization," she added.
