The law determines limits of jurisdictional immunities of foreign states in Russia

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. The State Duma, Russia's lower parliament house) passes in the second and third readings the draft law creating conditions for efficient protection of Russia’s property overseas. The law determines limits of jurisdictional immunities of foreign states in Russia.

According to Deputy Chairman of the State Duma’s Property Committee Vladimir Afonsky, the new law makes possible to strengthen security of property interests of Russia and ensure an opportunity for more flexible application of legislative mechanisms that enable calling a foreign state to participation in legal proceedings in the Russian court.

"The law clarifies the notion of property of a foreign state. Property liability of the foreign states becomes more comprehensive owing to that," the member of parliament said.

TASS reported earlier citing the head of the Property Committee Sergei Gavrilov that the legislative initiative will make possible to eliminate the imbalance in protection of property rights of Russian companies and state organization abroad and foreign states inside Russia.
