Russia, US come closer to likely agreement on safety of flights over Syria — ministry
The Pentagon said on Wednesday that progress had been achieved at negotiations with the Russian Defense Ministry in a third video conference on the safety of flights over Syria
MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. Russia and the United States held talks on Wednesday to come closer to key provisions of a likely agreement on the safety of flights over Syria, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told the media on Thursday.
"Yesterday, we held another round of consultations on the text of a likely agreement to ensure the safety of flights by Russian aircraft and aircraft of the US-led coalition over Syria. We identified closer positions on the key provisions of a future document. Further steps by both parties were coordinated," he said.
Konashenkov remarked that the discussion was professional and constructive.
"We are pushing ahead with the same work with counterparts from other countries."

Russia’s warplanes have been pounding IS terrorist targets in Syria since September 30 at the request of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. The Russian Aerospace Forces group in Syria consist of more than 50 planes and helicopters. Russia has no plans to participate in ground operations in Syria.
