Far East ecology innovations require about $3 billion — minister
The intensive development of the region should mind interests of keeping the unique nature of the Far East
VLADIVOSTOK, October 5. /TASS/. Implementation of ecology innovations in Russia’s Far East requires at least 200 billion roubles (about $3 billion), Minister of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoy said on Monday.
He said during the recent Eastern economic forum the total cost of contracts was two trillion roubles.
"Our calculations are, at least 10% or 200 billion roubles should be directed for implementation of ecology innovations," he told a meeting of national parks’ directors in Vladivostok.
The intensive development of the region should mind interests of keeping the unique nature of the Far East.
"We should make sure the advanced development did not contradict with keeping the unique nature," he said, expressing confidence "the large-scale projects" implemented in the Far East "including those on maintaining of biological diversity, offer an option for a special model for balanced economic development with a high level of maintaining and development of the natural complexes."
The meeting in Vladivostok features 135 directors of national parks. The meeting, which will continue for four days, will include discussions from scientific research to development of ecology tourism.
