Declaration of Turkish Foreign Ministry on Russia’s actions in Syria triggers questions

The ministry earlier circulated the joint declaration on behalf of France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UK and the US, which expressed deep concern with Russian military build-up in Syria

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. The declaration on Russia’s actions in Syria circulated by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on behalf of seven countries raises questions, one needs to get to the bottom and not to jump to conclusions, Russia’s Ambassador to the EU Vladimir Chizhov told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Friday.

"I have a great suspicion as to how and for what purpose this statement appeared," he said. "It has a strange appearance. The fact that it allegedly emanates from the Turkish Foreign Ministry is not quite clear either, so I would caution against hasty conclusions, one has to get to the core of the matter."

Earlier on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry circulated the joint declaration on behalf of France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UK and the US, which expressed "deep concern with regard to the Russian military build-up in Syria."
