MOSCOW, September 29./TASS/. More than 2,000 children and teenagers have been recognized as persons affected by a military operation in Donbas, said a spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee quoting the head of the committee, Alexander Bastrykin, as saying at a session of the public coordinating council for assistance to children in the south-east of Ukraine.
Vladimir Markin said the Investigative Committee was probing more than 50 criminal cases launched over murders of civilians in Ukraine’s south-east and the use of forbidden means and methods of waging a war.
"Crimes are also committed against children. More than 2,000 minors have been recognized as injured parties," he told TASS.
Bastrykin reminded the session that the Investigative Committee had taken under patronage all underage patients arriving from Ukraine’s south-east from the very start, constantly helping them and their families in the settlement of vital problems.
He expressed special gratitude to the president of the National Medical Chamber, Leonid Roshal, and all medics administering qualified and professional medical aid to children.
