Dmitriev gives Melania Trump drawing made by girl from Alyoshki as gift, thanks for help
This message from children "overshadows any diplomatic statement anybody can make", the Special Representative of the Russian president said
WASHINGTON, November 5. /TASS/. Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the Russian president for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, on Thursday presented to the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump a drawing made by an 11-year-old girl named Lidiya from Alyoshki in the Kherson Region, and thanked her for her help in carrying out the humanitarian mission in the city.
"Dear Melania, you saved and touched so many lives. As a token of appreciation, we'd like to give you a small gift, which is a painting by 11-year-old girl Lidiya from Alyoshki, who chose to be living with her family in Russia, in Tuapse. And this beautiful drawing says just three words. I love Melania. And this message from children, frankly, overshadows any diplomatic statement anybody can make. So thank you so much, First Lady. Thank you for your incredible humanitarian work," Dmitriev said.
Earlier, Russia and Ukraine, with the assistance of the First Lady of the United States, agreed to a ceasefire in Alyoshki to ensure the humanitarian operation. Starting from 4:00 a.m. Moscow time (1:00 a.m. GMT) on October 27, Russia imposed a ceasefire in the Kherson direction to prepare for the humanitarian operation in the city.
On October 30, the humanitarian mission was carried out: several dozen tons of humanitarian aid were distributed to the residents -- food, hygiene products, fuel for generators, and other essential items, Russia's Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova said. In addition, all those who wished were able to leave freely, both for other regions of Russia and for Ukraine.
