Ruling allowing Russian hockey at int'l events nothing to rejoice at — Medvedev
The politician noted that given the Canadian authorities' appalling attitude to Russia and its people, competing would be nothing but a headache for Russian athletes
MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russia’s Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said he does not share other people's enthusiasm about the Court of Arbitration for Sport's (CAS) decision to allow Russian teams to participate in international competitions, given the "appalling attitude" towards Russia from Canada and similar countries.
"I don’t share the giddy excitement about the CAS hockey ruling and Russia’s participation in certain international events. Given the appalling attitude that Canadian scumbag [Prime Minister Mark] Carney has shown towards our country and our people, competing would be nothing but a headache for our athletes," Medvedev wrote on Max messenger.
Earlier, Carney said that Canada would not issue visas to Russian athletes to participate in the World Youth Hockey Championship set to be held in the country in late 2026 and early 2027.
"The right thing to do is wait until the tide turns and our enemies come crawling back, begging Russia to rejoin professional sports. I’m confident that day will come soon: after all, Russia is a major sports power, and international federations and event organizers often find themselves strapped for cash. Especially if the CAS slaps the International Ice Hockey Federation with a billion-dollar fine for failing to comply with its ruling. Plus, even our enemies know the high standards we set with the Sochi Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, including certain Canadian and Czech degenerates. Yet all they are capable of is producing grotesque abominations like the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.".
