Valery Fadeyev called this "a betrayal of human rights" by the West

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Western countries use the doctrine of human rights as an ideological weapon, according to Valery Fadeyev, chairman of Russia's Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights.

"The West has used the doctrine of human rights as an ideological weapon. And I call this a betrayal of human rights by the West," Fadeyev said in an interview with RT.

The council chairman noted that the central idea of the doctrine of human rights is to reject and resist tyranny and oppression, which is why it enjoys support worldwide. "No one wants to be subjected to tyranny, and no one wants to be oppressed and deprived of rights. It makes no difference whether it is Europe, America, Russia, China, India, Indonesia, African countries or Islamic countries. As for how human rights are understood in different parts of the world, that varies," he said.
