US unlikely to halt assistance to Kiev after Republicans’ defeat in Congress — Medvedev
Quite useful consultations are taking place with the current US Administration regarding Ukraine, but nothing more, the Russian security council deputy chairman said
MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Despite the Republican Party’s defeat in the recent midterm elections to Congress and the Kiev regime’s rudeness, US President Donald Trump is unlikely to cut off aid to Ukraine, for example, the provision of intelligence data, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday.
Commenting on the results of the US Congress midterm elections and the Republican Party’s defeat, Medvedev said on his Max channel: "Quite useful consultations are taking place with the current [US] Administration regarding Ukraine, but nothing more."
"Kiev never really paid much heed to the head of the White House," he noted, adding that the Kiev regime "was unabashedly rude to Trump."
According to Medvedev, from now on the Kiev regime "will distance itself entirely and simply ignore the weakened US president."
"Trump can undoubtedly shut down Starshield and stop sharing intelligence data," Medvedev pointed out. "But something tells me he won’t do that."
"He’s an unpredictable guy, but now is not the time for exotic moves. Moreover, the impeachment pendulum will keep swinging no matter what the climate is," the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council added.
The United States held its midterm elections on November 3. Voters elected 35 of the 100 members of the Senate and all 435 members of the House of Representatives. Gubernatorial elections were also held in 36 states.
According to the latest estimates by US media outlets, Democrats are set to win majorities in both houses of the new Congress. Republicans currently control both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
