MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. BRICS has become a true voice for the global majority, with its member countries rejecting hegemony and neocolonialism, Kirill Logvinov, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated in an interview with TASS.

"Although, strictly speaking, this structure (BRICS - TASS) is not an 'organization,' we highly value our cooperation with our BRICS partners within the UN General Assembly, which is based on a high degree of alignment in our approaches to the majority of issues on the international agenda, as well as our commitment to building a fairer multipolar world order based on international law, with the United Nations playing a central coordinating role," he said.

"Needless to say that BRICS is a true voice for the global majority. Its member countries reject all forms and manifestations of hegemony, neocolonialism, and a 'rules-based order.' At the same time, it is fundamentally important that such a partnership is not directed against anyone. Unlike the European Union, for example, it is not characterized by ‘bloc" thinking,’" the diplomat stressed.

According to Logvinov, cooperation with regional and interregional organizations is a basis the United Nations rests on. "Relevant provisions are committed to paper in Chapter VII of the Organization’s Charter and numerous Security Council and General Assembly documents," he recalled.

"Regional organizations are called to play a complementary role in the United Nations’ efforts on a wide range of issues, including promoting the peaceful resolution of disputes, building trust among states, and ensuring their accelerated development. Amid emerging multipolarity, such cooperation is growing stronger and closer year after year. This is an entirely natural process, as regional organizations often possess unique capabilities and expertise and have a better understanding of the situation on the ground. Undoubtedly, BRICS occupies a special place within this framework," he added.
