Work underway to organize Trump-Putin-Xi meeting in November — Kremlin spokesman
The meeting is intended to take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen, China, in November
LONDON, November 3. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that work is already underway to organize a meeting of Vladimir Putin, US leader Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting is intended to take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, in November.
"Work is under way on organizing such a meeting," Peskov told the Financial Times.
Responding to an inquiry from the newspaper about the prospects for trilateral consultations, China’s Foreign Ministry said Beijing was in contact with the relevant parties regarding a possible meeting between the Chinese and Russian presidents. However, it made no mention of a potential meeting involving US President Donald Trump.
The newspaper also said it had sent a request for comment to the White House.
The APEC summit is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 18-19. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko previously said that no final decision had been made on whether a meeting between the leaders of Russia, the United States and China would take place on the sidelines of the forum.
Trump himself has floated the possibility of a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in China. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that Putin had discussed the possibility of such a meeting on the sidelines of the November APEC summit during talks with US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff.
