European youth completely brainwashed; they are not being taught history, says senator
According to Yelena Afanasyeva, that makes European youth more susceptible to the imposition of values that can lead to "destructive actions"
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. European politicians have brainwashed younger generations by deliberately depriving them of knowledge of history, including the history of World War II, Yelena Afanasyeva, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, has said.
"When we talk about the importance of knowing our own history, it is crucial for one simple reason: history can be taught in different ways, and textbooks are written by different people. In Europe, young people have already been miseducated. They know little not only about World War II and the Great Patriotic War, including what their own ancestors intended to do to our country, but also about the history of their own nations. They are unaware of these things because no one has taught them, and this has been done deliberately," she said during a session titled Unity of Generations and Cultures: How Consolidation Helps Compatriots Preserve Values and Traditions Abroad, held as part of the Peoples of Russia forum.
According to the senator, this "brainwashing" makes European youth more susceptible to the imposition of values that can lead to "destructive actions."
"How can you tell a child who is playing with dolls, for example: ‘You are not a girl; you can choose your gender later, or perhaps you would like to choose it right now’? This is so wrong and so profoundly unfair to a young person. It deprives them of the opportunity to simply develop as an individual. This is what has been done to their own younger generations. We in Russia, including those of us whose children live abroad, regardless of their ethnicity, must not allow this to happen to our own children," she said.
