Andrey Denisov pointed to the importance of "leaders’ diplomacy" in Russia-China relations

BEIJING, November 2. /TASS/. Personal rapport between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping allows them to discuss any issues, Andrey Denisov, chairman of the Russian Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Russian ambassador to Beijing, told TASS.

"There is a certain kind of chemistry between them, as people sometimes say, which allows them to raise and discuss any issues, and our leaders make use of it to our mutual benefit," he said, commenting on the upcoming meeting between Putin and Xi, expected to take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen, China.

Denisov pointed to the importance of "leaders’ diplomacy" in Russia-China relations, saying it had "a very beneficial effect on the entire range of bilateral ties."

According to the senior Russian senator, current trends in Russia-China cooperation suggest that the two countries’ leaders "will always have topics to discuss" both in terms of bilateral relations and the international situation.

Denisov, who served as Russia’s ambassador to Beijing from 2013 to 2022, arrived in China as part of the Federation Council’s delegation led by its speaker, Valentina Matviyenko.
