Russian diplomat dismisses talk of Russia’s isolation as wishful thinking
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Mikhail Ulyanov said that 12 percent of the world’s population can not isolate the largest country, which has so many friends around the world
VIENNA, November 1. /TASS/. All the talk of Russia's isolation on the world political stage is nothing more than an attempt to pass off wishful thinking as reality, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations Mikhail Ulyanov said, commenting on the recent Russia-Africa summit.
"The isolation of Russia is nothing more than the West’s wishful thinking," he wrote on X, commenting on a user’s post, saying that they were told in Europe that "Russia would end up isolated due to the war in Ukraine" whereas the fact 48 out of 54 African Union countries took park in the third Russia-Africa summit suggests otherwise.
"By definition, 12 percent of the world’s population can not isolate the largest country , which has so many friends around the world. And it is not even 12 percent-it is much less-since Russia also has so many friends in Western countries," Ulyanov added.
The third Russia-Africa summit ended in Moscow on October 3. It was attended by 48 African delegations, including 22 heads of state. The previous two summit were held in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2023, and in Sochi in the fall of 2019.
