MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has highlighted a positive trend in bilateral trade turnover during a Kremlin meeting with Ghana’s leader John Dramani Mahama.

"Ghana ranks 12th in trade volume with Russia among all nations on the continent. However, our trade turnover is one of the largest in sub-Saharan Africa. In January-August, trade grew by 6%, which indicates a generally positive trend," Putin said.

The Russian leader expressed satisfaction with the intensifying contacts between Moscow and Accra at various levels, noting that a political consultation mechanism is in place, alongside developing inter-parliamentary and inter-party dialogue.

"Naturally, we will continue assisting Ghana in education and training national personnel. Currently, 649 young Ghanaians are studying in Russia," Putin noted, adding that Mahama had been awarded an honorary doctorate by a Russian university.
