MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Stabilization in the Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger) is extremely important not only for Africa, but also for the rest of the world, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the plenary session of the Russia-Africa Summit.

"I think everyone agrees with what you pointed out: that stability in the Sahel region is extremely important not only for Africa but, perhaps, for the entire world," the Russian leader noted, commenting on the speech by Mali’s transitional President Assimi Goita.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that there are serious threats of terrorism and extremism in the Sahel region.
