ST. PETERSBURG, October 21. /TASS/. Released US national Stephen Hubbard is now at Pulkovo Airport in Russia’s St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin told US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff during their meeting on Wednesday.

Witkoff thanked Putin for Hubbard’s release, and the Russian president replied that "He [Hubbard] is already at Pulkovo Airport."

Hubbard was convicted of participating in combat operations alongside Ukrainian forces during Russia’s special military operation. On October 7, 2024, the Moscow City Court handed Hubbard a prison sentence of 6 years and 10 months. He confessed to the charges brought against him. The time he had spent in custody since April 2022 was credited toward his sentence.
