VIENNA, October 15. /TASS/. European nations are concerned that Moscow and Washington could resolve the Ukrainian conflict without their involvement, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Dmitry Polyansky said.

"Over the past week, the most acute phobia of our European neighbors has once again become particularly evident: the fear of a scenario in which Russia and the US - without them - might reach a long-term and sustainable solution to the Ukrainian conflict," he said at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.

The diplomat noted that US President Donald Trump had previously come to the clear conclusion that Vladimir Zelensky is not interested in peace and is simply doing all he can to retain his grip on power in the country. In Europe, however, there have been "attempts to prove his commitment to peace, while simultaneously reaffirming an unwavering stance toward confrontation with Russia."

"One cannot help but notice that whenever signs of a respectful and mutually beneficial dialogue emerge between Russia and the US, and as soon as the untouchability and infallibility of the leader in Kiev are called into question, European states invariably panic and take steps aimed at derailing that process," Polyansky stated.
