Georgy Borisenko noted that Russia has vast experience in handling spent fissile material

MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Russia is ready, if necessary and upon request, to transfer enriched uranium out of Iran to its own territory or to assist other nations willing to accept it, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko told RTVI in an interview.

"Certainly, if the need arises and the conflict parties reach a corresponding deal, we are ready to take this enriched uranium to our territory or to assist other countries willing to do so, because Russia has vast experience in handling spent fissile material," the diplomat said.

"As far as we know, IAEA experts lost access to Iranian nuclear facilities following the US-Israeli strikes in June 2025, in part because some of these facilities were simply destroyed by those strikes," Borisenko said.

He added that so far, there have been no signs that Iranian partners have regained such access.

"What we are hearing so far is that the United States continues to insist on removing all enriched uranium from Iranian territory," the high-ranking Russian diplomat said.

"Even before the United States and Israel launched their aggression against Iran, Russia proposed moving all enriched uranium to the territory of Russia or some other countries. Other nations made similar proposals, too. Naturally, we do not claim that Russia is the sole available destination," the deputy foreign minister said. "Our proposal remains on the table.".
