TURKMENBASHI /Turkmenistan/, October 9. /TASS/. A phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump can be expected soon, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

He also noted that the US negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are always welcome in Moscow but it is not yet known when their visit may take place.

On prospects for Putin-Trump phone call

A phone call between Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Donald Trump of the United States can be expected "soon."

On Witkoff, Kushner’s potential visit to Russia

The US negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are always welcome in Moscow: "They are always welcome in Moscow. The president [of Russia Vladimir Putin] is always glad to meet with them."

When asked whether their visit can be expected in October, he said, "It [their visit] can be expected. But we don’t know whether it will take place within this timeframe."

On Putin’s visit to Turkmenistan

Putin did not discuss the topic of the special military operation with the CIS leaders today: "No, the topic of the special military operation was not raised today."

The CIS leaders orally congratulated President Putin on his recent birthday on the sidelines of the CIS summit and the Caspian Environmental Summit in Turkmenistan: "There was no celebration. Everyone congratulated him verbally. There were no special events. No gifts, either."

Putin and Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran discussed cooperation in various fields, including energy, at a trilateral meeting: "Cooperation in various formats, in energy among other [spheres was discussed]."
