Russian presidential aide visit shipyard in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, October 8. /TASS/. Russian presidential aide and Chairman of the Russian Marine Board Nikolay Patrushev visited the Shanghai-based Waigaoqiao shipyard during the working visit to China, the press service of the Marine Board said.

Patrushev heads the delegation comprising representatives of Russian authorities, plants and companies. Waigaoqiao is one of the largest and state-of-the-art shipyards in China, which is part of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

The shipyard specializes in building a wide range of vessels and offshore structures, including large cruise ships and commercial vessels, including Aframax and Suezmax class tankers, container carriers (with the capacity of 7,000, 9,200, and 11,000 TEU [20 ft container equivalent - TASS]), and car carriers.

China's first domestic large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, was built here, marking a historic breakthrough for the country. The shipyard also produces floating production storage and offloading units and rig supply vessels.

Patrushev is in China with the working visit from October 8 to 12. The high-ranking Russian official will hold talks on Sino-Russian cooperation in the marine sphere.
