The Russian foreign minister stressed that the organization takes into account the specific national interests of individual countries and has a "diplomatic culture of balancing those interests"

TURKMENBASHI, Turkmenistan, October 7. /TASS/. CIS member states are mostly on the same page and can find common ground on contentious issues, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.

"I would not say that there are disagreements as such. There are positions that never fully coincide in any organization or between any two countries in any region of the world," the foreign minister said.

Lavrov stressed that the organization takes into account the specific national interests of individual countries and has a "diplomatic culture of balancing those interests."

"That is exactly what we did today at the meeting of foreign ministers. We had different views, but we reached agreement on all the issues on the agenda," the foreign minister added.
