Russia, Africa committed to building multipolar world — Russian diplomat
Vasily Nebenzya said Russia would continue supporting African states in their efforts to strengthen their anti-crisis capabilities, resolve conflicts, and consolidate their sovereignty
UNITED NATIONS, October 6. /TASS/. Russia and Africa advocate the idea of building a multipolar world, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.
"We are convinced that balanced African solutions can create the conditions to address the root causes of the crisis and bring about a qualitative change in the situation in the Great Lakes region. For its part, Russia will continue supporting our friends in their efforts to strengthen their anti-crisis capabilities, resolve conflicts, and consolidate their sovereignty," he said at a UN Security Council meeting.
"Russia and Africa are natural allies in strengthening the objective historical trend toward the formation of a multipolar world. In this context, in what concerns the reform of the UN Security Council, our country consistently supports expanding the representation of African states in this body," he said.
Russia’s firm commitment to "expanding comprehensive cooperation with Africa is a long-term choice," Nebenzya stressed. "This was stated back at the first Russia-Africa summit in Sochi in 2019, as well as at the second summit in St. Petersburg in 2023. The third Russia-Africa summit, to be held in Moscow on October 28 and 29, is called to reinforce this trend," he added.
