MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on October 8 and 9, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.
He did not rule out that at the request of the participants in the meeting of the CIS heads of state, the Russian president will update them on the current situation around Ukraine.
Apart from that, according to Ushakov, Putin will meet with his Iranian counterpart and will take part in the Caspian Environmental Summit.

Putin’s visit to Turkmenistan
Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on October 8 and 9.
During the visit, the Russian leader will take part in the summit of the CIS heads of state and in the Caspian Environmental Summit.
Putin’s bilateral meeting with Turkmen President Serdar Berdymuhamedov will be held in an one-on-one format on the CIS summit’s sidelines on October 8.
While in Turkmenistan, Putin will hold a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on October 9 to discuss the situation in the Middle East and issues of bilateral cooperation.
CIS summit
Putin may update participants in the CIS summit on the situation around Ukraine: "We do not rule out that, at the request of the leaders, our president will brief them on the current situation in the Ukrainian conflict."
After the summit, the leaders will visit an exhibition of goods manufactured in CIS states and Iran.
Caspian Environmental Summit
The Caspian Environmental Summit will he held on October 9, following talks in an expanded format.
The leaders of all of the five Caspian nations will be among the participants in the Caspian Environmental Summit.
The Caspian Sea’s shallowing will be discussed at the Caspian Environmental Summit.
Issues of cooperation between the Caspian littoral states will be discussed at the Caspian Environmental Summit: "It is expected that the Caspian Environmental Summit will focus primarily on the issue of cooperation among the littoral states in the field of environmental protection, with an emphasis on the problem of the Caspian Sea’s shallowing."
The Caspian Environmental Summit is expected to yield a declaration on solving the environmental problems of the Caspian Sea, including shallowing.
Caspian Sea’s significance for the region
The Caspian littoral states are interested in exchanging views on all issues concerning shared life along its shores: "The littoral states are, naturally, interested in exchanging views on all issues concerning shared life along the shores of this sea."
Russia attaches great importance to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Caspian Region: "Our country attaches great importance to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Caspian region, as well as its sustainable development based on the principles of good-neighborliness and cooperation."
Preserving the natural environment and ensuring environmental safety in the Caspian Sea is a key task for Russia.
35 years of the CIS
The Commonwealth of Independent States is celebrating its 35th anniversary, "this is an important historical milestone."
Over the 35 years of its existence, the CIS has established itself as a reputable regional association: "Over the years, the Commonwealth has established itself as an authoritative regional integration association in which the participating countries strive to build relations based on the principles of partnership, good-neighborliness, mutual benefit and consideration of each other's interests."
