TURKMENBASHI /Turkmenistan/, October 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Turkmenistan for a meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers to be held on Wednesday in the national tourist zone Avaza in the city of Turkmenbashi, a TASS correspondent reports.

The foreign ministers will summarize the preliminary results of the association's activities this year, discuss prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation in the commonwealth format and pay special attention to the 35th anniversary of the CIS, which is celebrated in 2026, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on the eve of the visit.

On the sidelines of the event, the ministers are expected to approve a plan for multi-level inter-ministerial consultations for 2027, and agree on the date and venue of the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. According to tradition, most of the approved documents will be submitted for further consideration by the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held on October 9 in the same place, in the Avaza national tourist zone.
