Russia’s top security official rejects any return of NATO infrastructure to Afghanistan

History teaches the West nothing, Sergey Shoigu noted

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The West mulling reinstalling military infrastructure and military facilities in Afghanistan is unacceptable, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said at a meeting with the minister of foreign affairs of the Islamic Emirate, Amir Khan Muttaqi,

"We view statements regarding a potential return of US and NATO military infrastructure and military facilities, being voiced in the West, as absolutely unacceptable," the senior Russian security official said. "History has apparently taught them nothing," he opined.

Shoigu said the tense humanitarian situation facing Afghanistan stems from what he called "two decades of the West’s irresponsible presence"’ on Afghan soil.
