MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Japan’s new sanctions against Russia confirm that Tokyo’s foreign policy is not independent, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment on Japan’s latest anti-Russian measures.

The diplomat noted that on October 2, Tokyo announced its 27th "package" of illegitimate measures against Russia, targeting 33 Russian legal entities and nine individuals, as well as a number of companies abroad. Japan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that the measures concern 33 Russian entities and nine individuals.

"We see this as yet another confirmation that Tokyo’s foreign policy is not independent, but is dictated not by national interests, but by Japan’s unquestioning solidarity with its so-called like-minded partners in the Euro-Atlantic community, which are pathologically fixated on the idea of inflicting a ‘strategic defeat’ on Russia," Zakharova said.
