Kiev's European backers do not want peace between Russia, Ukraine — envoy to OSCE
According to Dmitry Polyansky, this peace "could have been achieved long ago, provided that it is long-term and sustainable"
VIENNA, October 1. /TASS/. European countries supporting Kiev aren't ready for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to be over, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE Dmitry Polyansky said.
The diplomat noted that public opinion polls in Ukraine show that the majority of people want peace. According to him, this peace "could have been achieved long ago, provided that it is long-term and sustainable and addresses the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis," which Moscow has repeatedly cited.
"But today, decisions are being made for Ukrainians by others, in particular the European backers of the ‘anti-Russia’ project, and judging by your statements today, peace between Russia and Ukraine is still not part of their plans," he said, addressing his colleagues at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council. The text of Polyansky’s speech is available to TASS.
