Russia expels employees of Hungarian embassy, consulates in response to Hungary — MFA

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Hungarian Charg· d’Affaires in Russia Gabor Gergich, who was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, was informed that, as a retaliatory measure, a group of employees of the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow and Hungarian Consulates General in St. Petersburg and Kazan must leave Russian territory, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that a strong protest was lodged with the head of the diplomatic mission over the Hungarian authorities’ groundless and openly unfriendly demand of September 8, 2026, for a number of Russian diplomatic employees to leave the country.
"The Hungarian diplomat was informed that, as a retaliatory measure, a group of employees of the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow and the Consulates General of Hungary in St. Petersburg and Kazan must leave Russian territory within two weeks," the ministry said.
