MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. During a meeting with Central Election Commission Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked her and all election commission staff for conducting the elections in Russia at the highest level.

The Russian leader noted that, regrettably, the election campaign did not pass without casualties among election commission staff – a fact known to the entire country.

"I would like to thank you and all election commission staff at every level for doing a good job – which is vitally important and necessary for the country. It was carried out at the highest level, particularly in terms of organization. It is crucial that the elections were also organized at the highest level from the legal standpoint," Putin.

Elections of the 9th State Duma took place during a three-day voting period from September 18 to 20. For the first time, residents of the Donbass and Novorossiya regions participated in the elections. Ten parties were included in the electoral lists for the federal constituency: United Russia, the CPRF, the LDPR, New People, A Just Russia, the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, Communists of Russia, Rodina, the Russian Ecological Party "The Greens," and the Party of Direct Democracy.

United Russia secures 349 seats; the CPRF – 37; the LDPR – 23; New People – 19; A Just Russia – 17; and Rodina – 1. Four independent candidates also win seats.
