UN, September 26. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has concluded his Friday series of meetings at the UN General Assembly with talks with Deputy Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Abdullah al-Alimi Bawazir.

Lavrov said at the beginning of the meeting that he would be glad to hear his colleague’s position on international affairs.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the situation in Yemen and around it, amid the escalation of tensions in the Persian Gulf region and the Red Sea, was discussed at the meeting. "The Russian side emphasized the importance of intensifying international support for the efforts to establish a sustainable inter·Yemeni national dialogue under the auspices of the UN, aimed at developing mutually acceptable compromise solutions to the existing problems and bringing the positions of the opposing sides closer together," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the discussion touched upon the issues related to the development of friendly Russian·Yemeni relations and confirmed the mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation, including maintaining close coordination at the UN and on other international platforms.

In the second half of Friday, Lavrov also held talks with Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Martinez, Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Hugh Todd, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam.

In total, Lavrov held 14 bilateral meetings on Friday.
