MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) will convene on Friday to establish the final results of elections to the ninth convocation of the Russian parliament’s lower chamber, the State Duma.

The commission will announce the exact distribution of all 450 mandates and sum up the results of over 2,200 lower-level electoral campaigns, also held on September 18-20.

The results of the vote were not immediately announced after the polls closed. CEC Chair Ella Pamfilova said that regional commissions were given time until September 25 to conclusively review all incoming complaints and requests, conduct the necessary inquires and only then establish the official outcomes of the campaigns.

Who will make it into the new Duma?

According to preliminary results, five parties crossed the five-percent threshold: the United Russia party, the Communist Party, LDPR, the New People and A Just Russia.

The 225 seats designated for party lists will be distributed among them. The other half of the State Duma will be determined by the voting results in single-seat constituencies.

The United Russia is poised to form the largest faction. Party Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on September 24 that it is expected to secure 349 seats in total, according to preliminary allocation: 140 via the federal list and 209 in single-seat constituencies.

If the CEC confirms this distribution, it will mark the largest number of seats won by a single party in a legislative election in the entire modern history of the State Duma. The current record is also held by United Russia, which secured 343 seats in the 2016 elections. In 2021, it got 324 mandates.
