MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye confirmed the proximity of the two countries’ approaches to most issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following their meeting on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

"The meeting focused on current issues related to further strengthening traditionally friendly Russian-Senegalese relations, with an emphasis on expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment and humanitarian areas, as well as improving the legal framework for cooperation," the ministry said.

"When discussing key international and regional policy issues, including in the context of Senegal’s current presidency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Moscow and Dakar confirmed the proximity of their fundamental approaches to most of the challenges facing the world today," the ministry added.

The sides agreed to continue coordinating their actions at the UN and other multilateral platforms, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
