GENEVA, September 23. /TASS/. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi had to postpone his visit to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) because Kiev refused to provide security guarantees to him, Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov has told TASS.

"The IAEA Director General and members of his team planned to visit the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant in late August. However, Rafael Grossi was forced to postpone these plans because the Ukrainian side refused to guarantee that his visit to the power plant will be safe," he said.

"In fact, the director general received a signal that if he is planning to approach the ZNPP from the territory of the Russian Federation, and not from Ukraine, the lives of the agency’s personnel, including its head, will be in danger," the Russian diplomat continued. "In this situation, Grossi has made the decision not to visit the ZNPP within the previously agreed timeframe, but stated clearly that the visit is delayed, but not cancelled."
